FPL-01

Fire Resisting Ductwork

Product description

Tested to meet the latest BS EN1366-1 standard for up to 120 minutes integrity & insulation & classified to BS EN 13501-3.

Constructed from galvanised sheet steel or stainless steel on request, manufactured to our third party accredited construction standard, fire sprayed with either Flamebar BW11 (for uninsulated applications) or BW18 (where a fire insulation rating is required), specially formulated water-based compounds. The finished product contains selected mineral filters in a low permeability elastomeric binder, to a thickness of between approximately 1mm or 2mm depending on product, and has been successfully tested for international use under cellulosic fire conditions.

FPL-01 fire resisting ductwork is produced in sections and assembled on site utilising tested fireproof gaskets/sealants. This provides peace of mind that compartmentation is maintained throughout the building, ensuring safe evacuation of occupants and access for fire-fighting services.

BW11 v BW18 Spray

BW11 spray is a beige spray which forms an ablative coating which protects the duct from extreme heat. Under the EN1366 standards it is used on uninsulated ducts in applications where fire insulation is not a requirement, for up to 2 hours integrity. (E120) BW18 was developed during EN1366 testing of insulated ducts. It is lighter in colour than BW11 (off-white) and is applied by a spraying process in the same manner. BW18 forms a protective steam layer between the duct wall and the surrounding insulation, increasing the ducts insulation performance. It can only be used on systems with insulation applied to the outer surface, and in conjunction with FPL110 slab, can offer up to 120 minutes integrity and insulation performance. (EI120) Both of these coatings are used for EN1366-1 and EN1366-8 ducts, depending on the insulation requirement specified.‍
