Project description

Opened in 2008, Heathrow Terminal 5 is the latest terminal at Heathrow Airport. In 2023 Terminal 5 had its busiest year ever, surpassing 33 million passengers for the second time since opening. The Terminal 5 building is situated on a 260-hectare (640-acre) site on the western side of the airport, between the western ends of the northern and southern runways. This impressive complex also houses 100 shops and restaurants.

Laing O’Rourke undertook the construction, that began in Sept 2002. Over the lifetime of the build there have been over 60,000 people involved in the construction.

Scope

Fire Protection Ltd have been installing their products in Terminal 5 since the first years of construction. Supplying smoke extract and make-up systems as well as ongoing works in the various concessions, installing kitchen extract systems to guarantee the safety of staff and passengers alike.

Project highlights

Over the 20 years of works, FPL are proud to have supplied kitchen extract systems to the restaurants of the renowned Gordon Ramsay’s, Wetherspoons, Wagamama, Carluccio’s and Huxleys, amongst many others.

Recently, our Commercial Kitchens were installed in partnership with AQ Construction at Heathrow Fire Station East and Heathrow Fire Station HQ.
